About the Book

A note from Arjun

This book started as a notebook, a running collection of recipes I gathered from elders, caregivers, and neighbors while building the Ethno-Nutrition Project. Every dish came with a story, and the stories turned out to matter as much as the measurements.

The Table Between Us is my attempt to hand those stories back. It's written for anyone who has ever cooked for someone they love, adapted a recipe out of necessity, or wondered why a certain smell brings a whole childhood into the room.

Proceeds support free books and game kits for families navigating complex feeding needs, the same families whose kitchens shaped these pages.

If you cook one recipe from this book, I hope it opens a conversation at your own table, about where a dish came from, who taught it to you, and what it means to share a meal with the people you love.
