FOOD IN SOCIETY

Food is an essential part of our society, as it is a basic necessity for humans, with respect to nutrition and energy needed for survival, but it also plays a major role in how we socialize together, experiment with sensory learning, and enjoy bonding in our communities. Eating plant-based foods that are locally grown and seasonal to our surroundings have been part of our society and cultures for generations.

Now that we can ship ingredients around the world, we have a choice of what to eat when. I can't help but wonder if we are losing touch with our natural instincts and heritage in favor of trending pop culture.

Join me as I explore the cultural context behind foods and recipes from around the world.

Food is more than a basic necessity for survival. It’s a cornerstone of culture, connection, and creativity. Beyond providing nutrition and energy, food has long been a way for humans to socialize, engage our senses, and strengthen our communities. For generations, eating plant-based, locally grown, and seasonal foods connected us to the rhythms of nature and our cultural heritage.

Today, with ingredients from around the globe available at any time, we face a new challenge: balancing convenience and global flavors with an understanding of our roots and instincts. Have we traded tradition for trends? Join me as I delve into the anthropology of food, exploring the cultural stories, recipes, and rituals that unite us across generations and geographies.

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Table Between Us

Food, Cultures, and
the Stories We Share

Food isn’t just fuel. It’s how we gather, remember, and make sense of who we are.

This book started as a blog, a place where I explored recipes and stories from around the world. Along the way, I began asking bigger questions: Why do we eat the way we do? What have we gained, or lost, in the shift toward convenience? And how can we reconnect to food in a more meaningful way?

Blending my background in feeding therapy with a love for culture and flavor, this collection of recipes invites you to cook with curiosity, reflect on food traditions, and explore the deeper stories behind everyday meals.

I hope to bring conversations around the table about the food we eat, especially for those who may struggle to find this spark along the way.
